Hi everyone
Finally we've gotten around to updating our blog! After a 13 hour flight we finally arrived in Bangkok which was our home for the next 3 days. We landed at rush hour and after being stuck in Bangkok traffic I'll never complain about the A1 again! There are cars everywhere and moped drivers who are absolutely crazy! They weave in and out of the traffic and if they can't see a way passed they'll just drive on the pavement!
We took a tuk tuk up to the Grand Palace which really was an experience. I actually feared for my life at one point! Well worth doing though and fortunately we got there in one piece. Unfortunately we discovered my outfit wasn't suitable for entry to the palace (shorts and vests are offensive apparently - I know I've got fat legs but c'mon!!) Just as we were about to leave we discovered you could borrow clothes. Lovely! I ended up decked out in a fetching red skirt and pink shirt .. No missing me then! The Grand Palace itself is just amazing. The amount of gold and sparkles there has to be seen to be believed, my little magpie senses were going crazy! After spending a day in 35 degree heat and someone else's clothes we got another tuk tuk to the shopping centre at Siam for some air conditioned food and a wander around the shops. On the way back to the hotel we stopped at a little bar for a drink where I rediscovered margaritas - perfect on a hot day. The following morning I rediscovered margarita hangovers - not perfect on ANY day! ;o)
We had an amazing time in Bangkok and learned some valuable life lessons :
1) Bangkok is hot, all the time!
2) If you struggle to eat spicy food in the UK do NOT order spicy food in Thailand!
3) Margaritas are bad for your head
4) Always check the dress code before going anywhere!

Next stop is a day in Sydney before flying off to new Zealand's South Island for 3 weeks.
