What a night! Once on the bus we tried to K.O but it was absolutely freezing, even with a blanket wrapped around my legs and another one over my torso!
Woken up for border control crossing from Argentina to Chile. Drowsy and tired we got off the bus with our passports. We were given immigration and declaration forma which off cours we filled out nothing to declare.
Reens off course was way too excited to get another stamp in her passport. Whilst waiting in the queue other passengers lined up their handbags for inspection. We had left our stuff on the bus so didn't bother getting it out. Noticed the driver had started unloading our luggage. Next a sniffer dog appears and begins with the luggage, then goes into the bottom luggage compartmentof the Bus and eventually into the bus. Uh Oh! Out comes the officers with our bags and lays them infront asking who these belong to and began opening them up. Damn that sniffer dog!
Oopsy they found my apple, Devs banannas and Reens bag was full of so much dirt and rubbish that they didn't find te fruit hidden at the bottom. Me and Devs played the dumb card 'i don't understand...sorry no speaking spanish...I completely forgot it was in my bag!' they told us off saying it is a $200 fine and we had to fill out another declaration form. Phew we got away with it! You sooo know that as soon as our bus left they munched out fruit!
Later we arrived in a small town called Orsorno, which is gateway to Parque Nacional and Lake District. Straight away you can see the difference between Chile and Argentina, a much poorer less developed place. The bus terminal was very basic and surrounded by locals selling street food, even saw someone selling bread out of their rucksack!
2 hours later and were back on a bus to Pucon; home to an awe-inspiring sight of Volcan Villarrica. As soon as we got off the bus, Reens was harrased by a guy who owns a hostel, who she completely ignored. Turns out he is the owner of Backpackers, the hostal we actually wanted to stay at. The place is like a ski challet with a logfire although for some odd reason Tanna has convinced herself there is bedbugs just by looking at the oldfashion styled bedding.
My trusted bible directed us to Ecole for dinner which was yumm. They actually make Indian tea like home and the best nachos!
Time for bed zzZz
