Woken up by the not so lovely Veronica
(hostel receptionist) who demanded we leave as it was past check out time (5 minutes over!) and also that we needed to pay the tour cancellation fee for 2 people. Well that's one way of getting us to jump straight out of bed!
Most people in out situation would go and look for another place to stay, but not us girls. When we become homeless we turn to JanJua our favourite ice cream cafe for a brownie sundae as our first meal of the day. Ice cream for brekkie for me and Tanna is normal, but with the gas problem in town even Devs and Reens joined us for a sweet treat. Only just turned midday and me and Tanna have consumed 1 and a half brownie sundaes (of course Devi didn't finish hers) and I even ended up finishing last few bites of Reena's, physically feel sick bleughhh!
Sugar rush completed, off to the bus teminal to sort out our next journey to Pucon, Chile. After standing at the wrong bus stop for 15 minutes, a sweet lady asked where we were attempting to go to and redirected us to the correct stop.
After taking up many seats on the bus with out huge rushly packed backpacks (odd shaped with bags hanging off the backpacks) we finally get to the teminal and find the kiosk, where a lovely old man assists us with out ticket purchase. Turns out we missed the bus as I leaves once a day in the early morning, look likes it's another day in Bariloche for us. On the plus side we did manage to score a discount on our bus ticket!!
In all our crazyness from the night before and the rushed morning someone came up with the bright idea of let's not stay another night in a hostel and just wait at the bus terminal, afterall it's an early morning bus. (thinking like proper backpackers now).
Slight problem, need to find somewhere to leave our backpacks. Leaving it in the bus terminal lockers is a no no for me, can't be loosing my precious tiny unfashionable trekking wadrobe. I read somewhere (possibly made it up) that you could leave ur luggage at hostel for a small fee even if your not staying. After being rejected by 2 hostels and 1 hotel I clearly was leading us on the wrong pathway. But luck was on our side, we decided to try one last place where a lovely lady was more than happy to keep our bags at no charge even though we insisted.
Trust us to pick a 5 star hotel to chill out in, although the short time we had in luxury surroundings was so worth it.
The fact that we were in our trampy trekking clothes meant we stuck out like a sore thumb. At 1am when most of the guests had stopped entering and exiting the hotel, thr new receptionist on duty decided to come and speak to us. By now Devs was curled up on seat sleeping, Reens and Tanna slouched on sofa and me with a book in my hand pretending to be reading. We tried the 'sorry I don't understand' line, with an on the spot story in broken English of how we were meeting a friend, all we seemed to do was confuse the guy, who eventually gave up.
Now I look back at it, I wonder how we even talked ourselves into this situation! We may of saved on one nights accomodation but then we spent all that on chocolates and ice-cream throughout the day. Once you convert the price of a nights stay into GBP £ you realise how silly we were! But hey we wouldn't of had an eventful adventurous day.
Quote of the day:
'migueeel'
'we are homeless'
'twinkerbear from robin hood'
