Poor Devs got attacked by an insect at night and woke up with a swollen puffy eye and three insect bites all in a straight line on her forehead like a bindhi!
Today morning was a mini marathon to hire a bike. 2 hours later we had managed to get hold of some rusty cycles and headed offto explore the North island and beaches.
Definately has to be one of the best days of our travels so far, cycling through the island in 25•c with hilltop views. Although it was definately a struggle at times when we had to go up reallly steep hills. My schwinn teacher would be very proud! Had to have several stop offs for gelato breaks : )
Half way through Reens had problems with her bike chain, but lucky for us a random motorbikist offered topo give us a hand, but 15 minutes up the hill and the same issue happened again. This time Ricardo and his a friends in a truck stopped to help us. We even bumped into them an hour later and they stopped to check if bike was still ok!
Entertainig moments on the bike when Dev fell over not once but twice as she thought her bike would be able to do the same manouvers as a car! She's got a huge graze on her leg to tell the story.
Found an amazing place in town for dinner called DNA natural which does amazing fresh juices and salad plates. Everyone knows how much I heart a plate off fresh vegetables and after weeks of carbs and junk they were much needed. Finally tried an acai (berry mixture) really popular in Brazil as a snack ot even with granola for brekkie.
The town centre reminds me of hampstead in London, full of cafe bistros and healthy organic fresh places.
After a full day of cycling and exploring the island, we were absolutely shattered yet somehow ended up at the hostel bar at caipihana happy hour!
It's party bus time! All onboard the hostel party bus which took us to a student bar... time to relive freshers £2.50 vodbull??
We thought 3months travelling was a long time, these yorkshire boys have been travelling for 19 months! You could of had 2 babies by then!
Quote of the day:
'Who would of think of'
'you look like those teddybears who eyes aren't stiched on properly'
