What I love-
- The Spanish who have spoken with us are extremely nice. Very willing to help and offer advice. I have already collected the phone number of a girl about my age, willing to show me around.
- I love their parking garages. Weird as it be, they are genius with their parking system. Each parking spot has a sensor indicating if it is occupied or not. Each row indicates how many empty spots there are in that row, and when you enter, it indicates how many empty spots on each level. Genius I tell you, genius!
- The people that are in their late 50's and 60's love Vinny. We get stopped frequently to listen to their Doberman Story. Last week, a man explained that Dobermans were popular in the 80's, and that in Spain you only get dogs that are in style. Dobermans have not been in style since, so they are non existant in Valencia. Since then we have heard the same story from many people. Apparently we have the only doberman within the city.
- I love their rent a bike system. They are all over the city. You can rent one for 30 free minutes, park the bike at a station and then grab another free 30 minutes if you need it. Great way to get around without having to buy a bike.
The interesting
- We have become acquantences with the drug dealer in our neighborhood. At first he offers a simple beer to you, then once he has you close he asks about smoking. Each night we politely declined, until finally he recognized us. Now he loves saying hi and seeing how our day was. Despite his chosen career path, quite a nice man. lol
- No bananas, no turkeys.
- Their driving methods are beyond me. Although illegal, you can run red lights, you can go before the light turns green, and their are virtually no lanes.
What I strongly dislike-
-I can't stand that people do not say hi on the streets. If I smile at someone I get nothing back. Just keep to yourself.
- Although loved by a few, Vinny is looked at like a demon child. People stay very far away from us, are very frightened and given us the even look if our dog comes anywhere near them. I even has a gentleman yell at me because Vinny turned towards the man while look at the birds. We were at least 10 feet from him, and Vinny was on a tight leash. Many people have dogs, but they are small. The ones that do have big dogs, don't pay us any attention.
