We're finally here! After a very long flight, a few hours arranging the pick up of Vinny, and the drive to Valencia, we are finally here! First and foremost, Valencia and the drive to Valencia is gorgeous. more mountanious than I originally thought and with a serene feeling as you drive through.
Once we entered Valencia the serene feeling went away and I was completely on edge, worrying that we were going to run over a bicyclist, or grace the side of the car next to us. Definitely has the New York feel to it while driving. The buildings are beautiful, very rustic yet romantic. The streets are constantly ending and turning, more frequently the closer you get to the center of the city, "Ciutat Vella." We learned very quickly how important it is to know the streets as GPS is no help at all.
After arriving at 6 pm, we settled into our new temporary apartment. It is a beautiful place; 1 bedroom/2 bath, 2 living room spaces, and a kitchen. Simple and very modern. The best part of our current living arrangements is its location. We are less than 50 steps from the holy grail, as our apartment is next to the cathedral. We also have a numerous amount of shops, restaurants, and markets within walking distance.
We quickly showered, unpacked, and then walked around the Plaza de la Reina. We found a wonderful restaurant where we spent the next few hours drinking wine, eating wonderful food, and enjoying each others company.
After what seemed like too little sleep, we woke up and apartment shopped all day. The majority of the apartments were beautiful and right up our ally. We have a few more days of searching and then a weekend of decisions to make. Although we miss our friends and family, we are excited for our future here and look forward to the day we can call a place our home. Adios!
