Today was probably the most bizarre day yet! We packed up and headed out of Mt Hutt and across the country towards Lake Tekapo with an interesting stop along the way! We went on an adventure to find Edoras from Lord of the Rings. Although they took the set down after filming the landscape was still there and boy was it impressive! The drive was about an hour out but it was worth it for the scenery and the pictures we got!
When we arrived at Lake Tekapo, our first stop was a visit to the Church of the Good Shepherd. This was a idyllic little stone church just on the lake. It was really something to see even though it was so small!
We then headed to the YHA to find out that there was no room at the inn and the only bed they had was in a caravan. We not only felt like Mary and Joseph but also Hallie and Annie in the parent trap when they get sent to the isolation cabin!
We got settled in our caravan before heading out down the road and back to the church to see the stars as Tekapo is one of the best places to star gaze.
When we arrived back to the caravan we knew that we were in for a cold night so we bundled up in thermals, jumpers and fleecy jammies before watching The Parent Trap as we felt like we were in it!
The next morning we woke up feeling very cold! We got sorted and packed up the car again before a long walk along the lake which was beautiful and the sun even made an appearance.
We then got in the car and began the drive to the next stop on our road trip... Mount Cook!
