Greetings, fans, friends and family from Christchurch New Zealand.
Our last day in Santiago passed undramatically, after a late night the night before we had a liesurely lie in before we had to wake up and pack our bags ready for checking out. After checking out we went to the artesan market at Santa Lucia to see if we could find more bargains in this Campdenesque market. After this we met with a college friend who is now studying medicine in Santiago we even have pictures to prove we're not making it up (pictures coming shortly). We decided to go back to this place called domino which do posh burgers and hot dogs which are very common in Chile, your meaty treat comes piled high with Tomatoe, guacamole, mayo, mustard, ketchup, salad, and it tastes amazing (if paddy is reading better than subway!!!!) After lunch we headed back to the hostel and chilled out and had some food while we waited for our taxi to arrive. We got to the airport in plenty of time and proceeded to the correct desk which had a suprisingly short queue. Unfortunately the LAN airlines staff were horrifically incompetent, similar i'd imagine to Heathrows terminal 4. Which meant that each person took about twenty minutes to check in. One quick trip to duty free and we're on our way to New Zealand
Today marks a milestone in our trip as we enter country number three on our grand world tour. Having been awake for nye on 30 hours Auckland appears shining on the horizon. Having managed to bend time we arrived at 4 am and a whole day later despite only flying for 12 hours. The next mission was getting to Christchurch so we had to collect our bags and go drop them off at the domestic terminal. Arriving at the domestic terminal we find it desserted and locked down. The over head boards then kindly inform us that the flight has infact been cancelled and there are no Qantas staff in sight. When they did arrive they were very helpful and even managed to book us onto a flight which left half an hour earlier than our original which was quite convenient.
So 33 hours after getting a poor nights sleep i managed to nod of briefly on the flight down to Christchurch where we were warmly welcomed by Marianne, John and Baby Hamilton.
We have spent most of today being entertained by Hamiltons amusing outbursts, and a visit into the hills behind Christchurch to enjoy the stunning panorama which was stunning. So i sit here now righting this blog for you fighting of sleep for the good of my jet lag and i hope you appreciate the efforts i have gone to.
Its been a long day
