Luckily we had bought some warm down jackets in Italy coz it was COLD!!!! Tallin is a brilliant city, so pretty with its medieval city walls and streets and square, and plenty of atmospheric pubs and cafes to enjoy. In fact, lots of Finnish people come over for the weekend to enjoy the cheap booze prices and it is also a very popular destination for English lads away ( but don't let that out you off!)
Estonia has such an interesting history having been occupied for most of it's existence, and laterly part of the Soviet until 1991. One of the most interesting pieces of history is when as part of their June Song Festival in 1988, 100,000 people a night came to sing and express their longing to be independant from the Soviet Rule which resulted in Independance gained peacefully by the Estonians.
We spent a few days exploring Tallin sites and enjoying some home comforts like going to the movies! There are so many interesting bars that we planned to check out such as a Vodka bar where the shots were served in glasses made of ice, a bar that is made up like a scotland yard/sherlock holmes theme, another bar we went to that had floating clouds on the ceiling and lots of cozy wine bars and pubs. Unfortunately we didn't get to go to many of these after our craving for Indian food left us with violent food poisoning for a couple of days!!
We left Estonia a bit earlier than anticipated as Peter's Dad had another stroke so we rushed back to Glasgow to be there with the family. Thankfully his Dad is doing well and is back from hospital and the scans showed no new damage. We were so glad that we were closer and able to come back to be with his Mum and Dad.
