I finaly managed to get away from Bangkok yesterday, which made me very happy. I did have a god time but it just seemed very smely and dirty, i had not spoken to an English speaking person for 3 days and to be honest i was geting a litle bored. I booked a night bus to Koh Samui which left at about 6pm on Friday night and was due to arrive at 11am the next morning, so quite a long trip. I got a Tuk - Tuk from my hotel at about 5.30pm and had to wait in the rain by the Travel Agent, there was some cover but i was soaking with sweat already from carrying my bags and realy could of done with drying of abit. A bit later another Tuk Tuk arrived with what looked to be ENGLISH PEOPLE! I definately had my fingers crossed anyawy :) They jumped back on a Tuk Tuk to get to the bus stop and i had to get on the back of a motorbike, pissing with rain, no helmet and absolutely hating motorbikes i was not best pleased but i did atleast make it there in one piece. The bus journey was OK, very cold on the bus and you could not turn the airconditioning off, and there i was in my shorts and a T-Shirt. The bus broke down at about 4am so we had to wait for another one for 1 hour, we were not even told what was going on! We arived at the ferry port at 7am and had to wait one hour for the boat. As soon as everyone dropped there bags on the boat we started our 3 hour journey to Koh Samui. I did sit inside at first, but then me and the English girl i met in Bangkok thought we would check out the top of the boat and get some fresh air, i was only going out for a minute, but we got chating and this is when i finally found out her name! Danielle, from Kent if my memory serves me correctly, very beautiful girl, and it was lovely to actualy have a conversation with someone! The boat journey was amazing, the further out we went the more colour we could see in the ocean, the weather improved incredibly and that was when people could begin to comprehend the tranquility and beauty that Thailand has to offer. I got the bus from the port of Koh Samui to the Beach Resort and was happy to offload the bags. Danielle and her friend were sat down in the bar so i went and joined them for some lunch and a drink, overlooking the ocean, the sun beating down, absolute solitude. The the three of us took a walk down the beach and in to the town to try and find somwhere that was showing the rugby that night, not to much avail. We stopped in an English bar and had a beer and a couple of games of pool. Of which i lost to a lady again, sorry that you may read that brother. After geting back to the hostel we found that the Irish girl we met on the boat deciede to stay at our resort, again a lovely girl, so quite nice that a few of us can chill out together. Everone got showered and changed and had diner downstairs in the restaurant. We then got a taxi to town and went to the Shamrock for copius amounts of alcohol. I think i got a taxi back on my own, the Ian, got back, and later the girls crwaled back in. Danielle and Debbie came up to my apartment for beers, but then i realised i didnt have any. Debbie was out cold, so myself and Danielle walked to the 7/11 at 4.30am to but some vodka. By the time we got back, Debbie was still out for the count, so me and Danielle had a drink and tryed to wake Debs up for a couple of hours to walk her to her room. Finaly we managed to and so me and Danielle went back to mine to have another beer and a chat, i think the sun had come up before we got to sleep! What seemed like the quickest bit of shut eye in my life, there was suddenly a knock at the door, not wanting to move i tryed to cleverly roll over, thinking maybe Danielle wil fall out of the bed and answer the door so i could continue sleeping. That didnt happen, so i jumped up to find the cleaners at my door at 1pm asking why i have not checked out as i had only booked the one night, i crawled to reception to book another night. I went back upstairs to get myself cleaned up before heading to the pool to catch up with the rest of the crew. Its been an awesome 48 hours in Koh Samui so far, and this Danielle girl has really backed up my theory i have had since i traveled Australia last year, that the people you met when you travel are so fantastic. She is beautiful inside and out, with an amazing personality, and from the chats we have had she seems very intellectual aswell, you dont meet many people like that, i dont think so anyway. Put great company like that with a beach side resort, palm trees lining the streets, the forest just behind us, miles of beach with beautiful views and one word comes to mind..... Paradise.
