Well Hello Again Everyone,
I am just getting settled in Nottingham after a very long trip over. I started in Saskatoon on Thursday morning after a late night packing. It was a wonderful way to start though by staying at my cousin Natalie's place. I was able to spend some time with Kaylee and get her hooked on Smurf's Village as well. Plus I was able to visit with Natalie, Aunty Bev and my Mom.
The flight left at 10:10 am and I landed in Calgary at 10:15 to enjoy a layover until my flight left at 6:15 that evening. This turned into 6:50 so I am very glad that I was able to meet Launa for lunch and then go to the unit to finish up some final documentation and say some goodbyes before heading back. In true Tanya fashion I had more than just Nottingham on the go before I left but my mom is amazing and helping with the final details now.
So I arrived in London at around 11 am on Friday January 27 after sleeping most of the flight. A lovely English fellow let me take up three seats :). This helped with the ensuing travelling through London to St Pancras where Sue and I will be coming back from France on the underground rail train. Then on to Nottingham. I arrived in Nottingham at around 3 pm after enjoying the spring like conditions with fields green with freshly planted crops. The trees are still bare and the weather is a bit brisk but much nicer than the deep freeze I just endured in Calgary.
I was able to find the hotel that I booked relatively easy. I was just around the corner when I finally phoned the hotel for directions. This is while carrying all my luggage. I do love my Deva backpack. I am staying at the Rundall Square Hotel and while it is not the Westin it is quite comfy and clean. Plus it is right beside the gates to Nottingham Castle. I am excited to find my residence today and get some supplies. I have to get a lot done as I need to find the Orange store to get Sue's UK phone for her and send it back. My insurance to be able to reach her. Although I do know how excited Sue and Saila are for there trip to come visit me.
So I have just finished my latte and toast at a lovely little coffee shop close to my hotel. (I was unable to check into my residence until today as per the agreement). But I am very close to downtown so that I am able to suss out the area. I found some streets I have no desire to explore at night but otherwise I feel quite safe here. I am quite thankful that I had my party days on my first trip and even then I really didn't party much. But looking back I can still see where I was safe by the Grace of God.
Well it has been very interesting to watch the people go by as I wrote this and had my breaky but I should get going now and check this place out in the daylight.
Again, if you are considering a trip to the UK or Europe please let me know as I am always up for company.
Cheers,
Tan
