Helloooo Italy! First stop was Verona, known for lovers paradise and home of Shakespeare's star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. We even visited Juliet's balcony where the play was set which was quite pretty. Next we kept driving to our home for the next two nights, Venice. That night we went to a toga party where we all wore white sheets and vines. It was a very fun night!
The next day we explored Venice itself. It is a town where no cars are allowed, therefore we had to catch a monorail into the city. I was amazed! It is a city built entirely on islands with about three hundred different canals running through it. There really is nothing like it anywhere else in the world! The streets are tiny and filled with tiny little bridges to get over the canals. It's a place where you have to walk into expecting to get lost because there are that many streets with no names or anything that it's almost impossible to navigate. Getting lost was part of all the fun though :) We went to St Marks square, known for been a filming location of James Bond and The Italian Job. We also walked across The Rialto Bridge, built in 1510 and which was the first bridge built across the Grand Canal. My favourite part of the day though was going on a gondola ride (the boats where you sit on and a rower stands on the back). It's the best way to see the city as you get navigated through the tiny canals. I'm surprised there's not that many boat accidents because seeing cars aren't an option, everyone has boats and they're everywhere!
I also had my first slice of Italian pizza! The thing was bigger then my head!! It was pretty good though :)
I'm going to put it out there... I think Venice has been my favourite place thus far! It was just absolutely gorgeous! I could've kept walking around those streets for a lot longer!
