Before I had got to Rotorua I knew I should definately visit the Polynesian Spa. Very handy as it was only 5 minute walk from the hostel. So on my last morning I got up early and headed over there with Lola (roommate) (yes, I did have 'Copacabana' in my head anytime someone said her name!). We used the Lake Spa so were able to use 4 different mineral spring pools which were 36c, 38c, 40c and 42c. It was really relaxing and especially like the hottest one, especially as we were outside and it was very cold! The pools overlooked a massive lake as you can see in the picture. It made the experience even better. However, after a coupla hours my fingers and toes were resembling raisins so time to get out!
We both had long bus journeys at lunchtime, so we headed to a nearby cafe for a full fry up...yummy! Eventually it was time to catch my bus at 1pm and I stayed on there for 7 hours (eek!) until I reached Wellington. I didnt know where I was going and it was dark so I grabbed a taxi to the hostel. I got given my room key and as soon as I opened the door I burst out laughing. Now, I am pretty used to sleeping in large dorms with 8,10,12 other people, but this was a 4 bed dorm and I thought 'Sweet!'. Unfortunately it was literally 2 bunkbeds and a cabinet. There was only just enough floor space to get into bed. And to make matters worse I was in a top bunk (which I'm not really a fan of!).
So I headed out into the common area, started chatting to some random people, one being Welsh and who would soon turn out to be my partner in crime whilst in Wellington. In bed by 1am, which was early compared to the others but I had a Skype session in the morning!
