Hello Everyone!
Once again I am so sorry these blogs are so far apart. Everything has been so crazy! We just got back from London last weekend Sunday, then my first class, the Fashion Styling, has ended and now I just started my other class, Trend Forecasting, today! So Ill try to fill you guys in as best I can!
London! OH MY GOD! I think i have found my home! I kid you not it was wonderful. Not only was it trendy and chic but the street fashion is incredible. Very much reminded me of my sister :) Very grunge, punk rock artisitc look. The trasnportation system is very simular (if not easier than Paris's Metro) they called it the TUBE. hehe! The first day, we walked everywhere I got to see basically all the famous monuments like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The National Gallary, Westminister Abby...everything! I also got to shop! Yes! But I felt that in London you got way more for your buck! I purchased 3 dresses at the open markets we went to and I also got a stylish new vintage belt from Oxford Street and Got to Visit TOP SHOP. Which is a very famous store where most of the British Celebs buy their clothes like Kate Moss! Also now that I am 21 I can legally drink (well in Europe its 19, ,so I guess it doesnt matter) anyways they have this famous drink called a Cider-n-Black. Which is an apple cidered beer with black courrent juice. It was very good and I hate beer so you know its awesome if i say it is! If anyone goes there it is a MUST! Along with the Cider-n-Black one of the biggest delicatesy's is a Pasty. Which is basically a pot pie to go with steak, potatoes and vegetables wrapped in a light pastry. It was soo good! No wonder the Brits look so well fed. Honestly, it was the first time since I had come to Europe I felt full! I also got to reunite with my travelling buddie Michelle from MI. She took me to see the night life of London! It was crazy and lively! We went to this club called Penthouse where they had 3 levels of dance floors a different genre of music at each floor & Lots of cute Brits :). It was so much fun, out till 3 am but it was worth it! Great way to end my weekend!
When we got back to Paris..It was straight to the books! Our Fashion Styling class was wrapping up and we had to complete our Portfoilo's. It was hard work but totally worth it. My professor, Leslie, was very happy with the way my shots came out and very much liked this racey photo I had (which I will not post up because my mom would kill me) But its ok I wasn't naked! Anyways She loved my photos and my vision I had for each image. She added that I should continue with styling because she thinks I have a birght future ahead and recommended that I get an internship with a magazine that way I can work under a deisgner or stylist to get my foot in the door! SO EXCITING! So thats my next big goal...Get an internship with a magazine next summer!
And then today! TRENDFORECASTING started! I met my professor and he is super nice and very very knowledgeable about every aspect of the fashion industry. Get this his first job before he was out fo college was in Milan. Ya my jaw dropped...I was like I want to be you! This class for sure will be alot of work. Our assignment is to predict the next trend for both Spring/Summer of next year as well as Autumn/Winter. We have these little scrap books we need to joint things, words, drawlings of everything and anything we see that would best suit our vision for the future. Its crazy. The one thing I loved (and secretly giggled) that he had talked about was the "my major is shopping... it's hard work". So for all of you who think my major isn't hard !!! Look at it now! haha just kidding but seriously my major is a ton of work. Not just shopping and going to fashion shows but working with numbers, negoication with vendors and of course creating and implementing a business stratgey to bring in profit ....Lots of work if I want to go anywhere in the Industry!
Also one more thing before I go we did go to the Fashion & Textiles Museum today! Of course I couldn't take any photos :(. They are really weird about that kind of stuff here in France. But it was so cool, there were deisgners from Karl Langerfeld to Chanel to YSL to Valentino. It was amazing the pieces they showcased. ALL of them were reflections of the past trends in the 1970-1980's! It was very much like what Lady Gaga is bringing back! Big sleeves, leather, crazy patterns! The whole 9 yards! it was definately the best museum we have been to yet!
Anyways, It is getting late and I do have class tommorrow morning bright and early. But I will try to post this weekend since I will be in Paris roaming around and exploring some more! If not a blog there will for sure be pictures! Be sure to comment on them too! I love reading what you guys have to say!
Miss you and Love you all so much!
