Hello! So I just got back from my weekend trip to SPAIN! It was a trip to remember! I got to see alot of things, I experienced alot more than I bargained for and of course had sooo much fun!
Barcelona! It was definately the happening place to be! As soon as we arrived it was busy and buzzing. So to begin my little recap...We arrive at our Hostel. Now I have seen all the Hostel movies and going into this I was prepared to experience what it is like for a backpacker...but let me tell you! NO ONE could have seen this coming... We get inside and it's dark, its creepy, it smells old. Not the place you want to go after a long day of traveling.
Anyways... We are met by this small Spanish lady who doesn't speak a lick of English! (I was in culture shock, I don't know Spanish). Our room was extremely small (as you can see from the photos) and we shared a bathroom, which was down the creepy hallway, with 5 other rooms of which we had no idea how many people were in each. It was an experience that I will remember always and hope to never sleep in a Hostel again. It was awful!
As for the rest of the trip! AMAZING! Our first day we decided to roam around a little bit in the morning to get a feel for our surroundings. I had a map and we thought " hey, we can give ourselves a tour" Ya...no. We tired and ended up lost so we took a Bus Tour instead. I saw everything! The bus travelled all through the city and around the valley and into the harbor! It was definately a tour I would recommend everyone to take especailly if you are only staying for a short time. Along with doing the tour we walked down one of the busiest, touristy and trendy streets in all of Barcelona: LA RAMBLA! It's home to many of the top name brand stores(Sephora, Zara, Top Shop etc), boutiques, many authentic Rest. & Bites as well as some of the best street performers ever! This street was our play ground! We got to eat, shop, play and have sooo much fun! The best part was this was soo close to our hostel we ended our days/Night at like 3-4 am each night! And let me tell you...Barcelona does not sleep. People there don't start the day till after 1pm and continue until 6-7 am! It was crazy! But we couldn't embrace Barcelona without trying the local cusine! Some cool things we tried were Paelles (So good) and Sangria (Also sooo Good). OH! And i can't forget Chirros! They are like donuts except covered in sugar and you dip them in chocolate! OoOh Makes my mouth water just thinking about them.
But overall the trip was well worth it and soo much fun! I experienced a lot and enjoyed every minute of it! Now it's back to Paris, where I will finish my 2nd class and be coming home ! I can't believe this program is almost over!
Time flys when you're having fun! But as for now, I should get to bed, Early Bird gets the worm! (Wow, sorry with the cheesy lines...too much) I will try and add a few more blogs before the trip ends!
Miss you all! And Keep reading and commenting!
