Well, here we are back on the North Island. Once again the infamous ferry crossing across Cook Strait was flat calm so it looks like we've missed out on the really rough one. The South Island has been full of highlights and luckily we've made some good friends who have given us addresses of people to visit up on the North Island. We are staying with Georgie's son and his family about 30 mins walk from Welly city centre. There is plenty to do in Wellington, it's a bonus that most of it is free. So what have we actually done you're probably asking yourselves?
We have walked nearly every inch of the CBD and the waterfront, toured Parliament House (inc The Beehive), paid homage to the original Treaty of Waitangi documents (Google search it if you want to know about these), visited the War Memorial on ANZAC Day (25th April) and spent nearly 7 hours over 2 days in Te Papa - NZ's leading museum that covers everything from natural history to geology to Maori culture. That pretty much filled our days but we did find time to drive round a few suburbs and a bit of the local coastline.Â
As far as our evenings went we had take-away with Jay and Dee, spent a few hours taking photos at night and watching TV. We did have a night out at the San Fran Bathhouse Comedy Club which was a good night although some of the acts reminded us of the early episodes of pop idol - they were so awful that they were funny !!!! Friday night Tom went to the Westpac Stadium with Jay to watch the Hurricanes V's Highlanders in the Super 14 Rugby.  Jay (thank you again) paid for the tickets, beers and burgers. It was then back into the city for a few more beers and a kebab to eat on the way home. I stayed in with Dee, ate chocloate and watched The Holiday followed by The Pursuit of Happiness, both really good films.
We are now on the way to Stratford so until then, take care xxxx
