Just a quick update for anyone out there that doesn't already know what we've been up to lately. We finished work in Auckland at the end of August and swanned off to the Kingdom of Tonga for 2 weeks. We had a great time but the weather put a dampener on things a little which meant we couldn't get out on the water much and see the best stuff. We did get to swim with the humpback whales which was amazing and the main reason we went in the first place. I'd recommend anyone to go there and do it!
We got back and had a farewell dinner with a few mates at the Horse & Trap in Auckland and said our farewells which was sad before catching a flight down to Queenstown on the 10th September. Why did we go to Queenstown you ask? Well, we are now skiers and it's official. We had a 3 day package spending 2 days at Coronet Peak and 1 day at The Remarkables. We did have 3 group lessons and Jo was an expert downhill speed skier!! No accidents which was a bonus, just very tired legs!!!
We have now arrived in Waimatuku which is about 20 minutes drive from Invercargill to live and work on Michael & Cheries dairy farm for the next 3 months. We finally get to do something different to our usual line of work and the amount of hours involved means we should be able to save a good sum to spend in South America next year. Jo is actualy working on the neighbours farm because they are so short staffed which means she's virtually assistant manager already!! The early starts are the only downer but we'll get our bodies trained to it eventually with a bit of luck. My starts wil be 3:30am in a couple of weeks time because of the size of the herd that has to be milked - nearly 1000!!!
That's all from me for the time being but hoped you enjoyed this mini update. There are some photos of Tonga and the skiing on here now so check them out.
