Our last day in Adelaide! :(
At 11am we went to a local primary school where we met Uncle David, Aunty Coleen, Jason and his family for a Japanese Fair. It was actually really interesting! We watches some Matsuri Taiko Drumming where all the drummers were female and was very impressive and interesting to watch. We ate some noodles, a chocolate banana and some ??!! which were deep fried cheesy balls with octopus in the middle! We bought some for Darren and Ethan which they enjoyed. We saw them beat rice with hammers into a sticky food type and enjoyed brief chats with the family.
When it was time to say goodbye - even though it was a normal farewell, the thoughts of the unlikelyness of us seeing them again then feeling utterly privileged to have come on this world trip and have actually met them made me feel quite emotional!
Back at home the kids were loving mind craft! I had a cute conversation with Anna and Ethan where I asked what the capital of Australia was and they said 'the U.S.A'. I corrected them then asked them what USA stood for and they said The United Kingdom of America! So cute! Anna had been asking me random questions the whole time like 'if you had a kid, how old would you want them to be right now?' so I asked her if she could travel around the world but not see her family for a year or be normal and be with her family, her answer was she wanted to come with me!! So cute! :(
We all went roller skating apart from Garth at a local leisure centre. I was wobbly at first but soon got the hang of it, but it was very scary being so big with all these small kids falling over everywhere and not having any breaks!!! Anna absolutely flew on her new birthday skates. The gym floor was a much faster surface than the street pavement. Ethan and Jono were wobbly to begin with but really persevered and soon got the hang of it - although there were an awful lot of tumbles and falls, especially from little Jono! The did a limbo contest in the middle of the rink for the kids which Anna came joint first in which was really impressive and she won a 2 for 1 skate!!! Darren and Natasha were pretty good on their wheels too! It was a really fun but exhausting time! Anna almost stated skating backwards too! :)
The kids had a McDs on the way home and Darren had smoked a huge chicken on the BBQ while we were out. The neighbour came over because they had found Nugget in the garden - he had escaped!! Apparently the neighbours daughter was very taken with him!
I asked Anna to draw me a self portrait so I could remember her and she drew it and wrote 'Nooooooo' on the side. I asked her why she'd written no and she said because she didn't want me to go!!!! :( that nearly made me cry!!
Anna asked to read her bed time story which was really special!
We packed and tied up all loose ends in the evening. We only chilled for a short whole as it was late. :(
