May the fourth be with you!
Happy wedding Joeee and happy birthday Helen! Missing some UK gems today!
Our last saturday with the Taljaards :(
We went to Waterfall Gully with another family who had a boy - Ethan.G the same age as the twins and an 11 year old girl Danielle. We went to walk a one way 3km hill from Waterfall Gully to the summit of Mt Lofty - but it turned out to be a 8km round journey! Wow!
We started with 2 waterfalls which the kids were slightly wary to, but once Garth jumped the stones across the stream - they were all there. The ascent stated gently and surrounded by trees to steep and windy. We started as group of 11 but ended up spreading out as we climbed. Garth went ahead with Jono with Ethan.G and his mum. I stayed with Anna and Danielle and her dad in the middle and Darren and Natasha brought up the rear with Ethan. This was rather unexpected as we thought Anna and Jono would bring up the rear as they are so small and that Ethan would lead as he is so big ... But it's all in the mind! The kids did SO well - especially as I wanted to take it much slower as we reached the summit, but I think having their peers there spurred them on and us having the kids to encourage spurred us on! Darren had to carry Ethan the last bit!
When all at the summit the view was amazing and the kids had a new lease of energy climbing on the lighthouse shaped structure! It was very windy and quite cold! We very much enjoyed some well earnt lunch and I bought a post card for Granny.
We started our decent which was steep at first and trying to stop some impatient kids running down was a challenge. Once it had levelled out a bit it was a much more social walk down than up: I enjoyed chatting to Nstasha and all the kids walked down as a group pretending they were in the mind carft world! Going down was much quicker!
Once at the bottom we said goodbye to the family and Garth and I treated ourselves to a 30c McDs I've cream!
Darren took Natasha out on a date to dinner and the cinema and we watched the kids. Jono and Anna read to me. Anna read 4 pages and Jono 5. Ethan chose not to read, which was really sweet!
We all watched never ending story and everyone had a slice of toast (E had 2) and mylo!
I read to Anna and she was yawning through her story And went straight to sleep. I really enjoyed doing that. :)
Garth chatted with the boys for 30 mins and everyone was in bed before their bed time! What amazing kids!
