Cairns > Paronella Park
The storm i thoiought was brewing in Cairns came down with avengence, worst one they had in cairns at this time of year for years apparently.
The air got so hot and humid there was no chance to sit in the van all night so it was good that we already decided to go out out. The other couple sttayed in, well we didnt see them, they had a posh cabin with aircon, so i dont blame them.
We ended up at the woolshed in Cairns central and it was a reaqlly good night, makes 2 4 £10 look rubish! we had sweet chilli chicken breast and potiao and salad along with 2 double rasphberry and lemonade for $20 = aboiut £12, bargin. It became a typical back packers joint with silly games and drunk people, but great atmospher.
All though it was hammering it down with rain we had to sleep with the side door slightly open and the tail gate up, i dont think i ever want to sleep in those conditions again, however im sure it wont be the last time.
Moved on down the coast a little on Monday, we had a recomendation from the taxi man at the airpaort to visit Paronella Park (look it up on the internet) It was to be the most beautiful place to see.
Lots of sugarcane fields on the journey and then a massive dirty rusting factory smack bang in the middle of it, spoils the scenery really but i suppose they got to put it somewhere. Once the sugar cane depleted the Banana trees were lining up and again another big factory.
About Paronella Park: Well i dont think beautiful was the right word, maybe amazing, tranquill, peacfull, perfect, i just dont know which to pick it was sooooooooo worth the visit.
We did a day tour in the afternoon and that came with a free camping spot on the campsite followed by a torch light tour in the evening. Guess what we stayed. 1 because it had a free campsite but 2 becuase the day time tour was so capturing that we had to see what they could offer at night time. Beautiful colourful flowers, old buildings and a fantasic story when it came to the history, not forgetting the magnificent waterfall.
The tour guide in the evening, told us, 'When peole come here they are not sure why they came, and when you leave, you will not know how to discribe or what to say. You will only be glad that you made the journey to visit and want everyone else to come and share the experience'. There is nothing more true than that statement and i too would recommend to anyone travelling past to visit this place.
Its Tuesday now and were heading on to the whitsunday lslands. Up nice and early and on the road again at 630 am, We saw our first kangaroos hopping alng the side of the road this morning, i got a little bit excited, he he.

Mummy Wendy Great thoughts and fantastic link to the weather channels out there, sounds both scarey and beautiful. Glad you were not caught up in those floods. Carry on having a wonderful time, I'm sure it's a holiday you will never forget. Love as always. xxx
