Mmm well what can we say about the last 36 hours, maybe what a palava !
We checked in to the hire place in brisbane and they assured us there was nothing wrong wiht the van so we tootled on up to O'Reillys tree top walks and waterfalls in the Lamington National Park.
Weather was still being rubbish and it was raining for rthe 3rd day in a row, boooooooo. On route to our destination we stopped at a honey winery on mount Nathan just before a town that we were to be shortly acuainted with callen Canunga.
Our van that there was ' Nothing wrong with' stzrted to make funny noises as we entered Canunga and half way up the hill it stopped all together. tims diagnosis was that the drive shaft had snapped and that was later confirmed by the garage this morning.
the garage/ rescue people were bases just across the green so the van wasnt towed far, we also broke down outside a lovely little quiet hotel. After speaking to the hire company the outcome was to check in to the hotel, have a meal and drink and see what the morrow bought when everywhere was open again.
The meal we had was fab, enough to feed about 4 people i recon, the room was lovely, aircon and modern tv with freeview. quite a nnice little stop over, could of ended up in far worse places.
Tim learnt how to play bingo on the tv and we won a little bit but im sure the pennie purse was a little lighter over all. i never seen someone so excited at winning $0.50 = 31p.
After a lovely little breakfast inthe village cafe and several calls later we were told that we had to acompannny the tow man back to Brissy and cokllect another van to continue our journey.
in true suzie style, i complained and the nice man refunded us 2 days rental along with the accomodation cost. Added bonus of a fuel card with $50. he wouldnt refund us the cost of the meals and a few drinks that we had but i have instructions on how to proceed with that one!
Our new little camper van is clean, smells nice and fresh and is actually newer and has all modcons like a radio that works, along with outdoor table and chairs, woop woop.
The weather today is beautifully warm and supposidly the same tomoz. Heading on to Byron bay now, missing out O'Reillys its a shame but maybe get a chance to spend a day on the beach tomoz instead before the rain comes back.
We saw the snow in london last night on the Aussie news, only because they have tourists stuck at the Airports but it looks a bit white over. Believe it or not there are places in aus that are predicted snow over the next few days too. Maybe see all seasons in one week here.
We found a lovely little camp site in Byron Bay, walking distance from the beach and local little town.
The town its self is a hippie kinda town and everything is so peacful and chilled. Didn't do alot tonight, bit of shopping and some yummy pasta tea later and it was time for bed after the day we had. We have decided to stay another night and spend tomoz chilling in this little peacful town on the beach.
