I arrived on thursday and the heat hit me like an oven, its soooo hot!! the flight was great, on the wayt to Dubai i had 3 seats to myself so i could stretch out n watch lotsa movies then on the way to bangkok it was a busier but i slept pretty much the whole way. When I arrived I met a girl staying in my hostel and we took a walk around the nearby roads, got a bit lost but the Thais are all so helpful so we soon found our way to Khao San, turns out it was literally around the corner from our guesthouse, we just had to go through the back of a bar and out the other end. Khao San is so busy and sop many ppl selling u random stuff but lotsa cool bars so enjoyed a couple of Beer Changs and Sans Soms before heading back to sleep off the jetlag.
Friday I visited all the main sights of Bangkok like the Temple of Dawn which has really steep steps to climb to the top but amazing views if you brave the steps. I got a river boat to the Grand Palace and then went to Wat Po and the Emerald Buddha. Really interesting to walk around and see all the Buddhas and Thai people praying and making offerings. A couple of Thai girls walked around with me and took photos with me (think they find english girls really interesting lol! Then I met up with a friend id met on gapyear.coma nd we got a tuk tuk up to Anantasamakhom Throne Hall and King Rama V Monument, he said he`d charge us 20 baht for the trip and bring us back to Wat Pho after we`d looked round, the catch was that we stopped at 2 jewellersa, 3 tailors and 2 trourist shops (if we spendf 5 minutes in each he gets free petrol!!) met other ppl in the same shops whos tuk tuk drivers were doing the same to them, was pretty funny. When we finally got to the monument the tuk tuk driver drove off, we hadnt paid him!! so we just got another tuk tuk to drive us back. Then got a bus to Siam Square which is a huge shopping mall so that I could but a plug adaptor. in the basement was an aquarium with a danbce shoiw being put on - men dressed as jelly fish and mermaids - hehe!
In the evening I met up with two dutch girls in my guesthouse and we had some dinner at the restaurant before heading down Khao San for a drink, met so many ppl there, cant believe how easy it is! :-D
Yesterday I took a day trip to Kanchanaburi which was awesome! we visited the Bridge over the River Kwai and its museum then went to have lunch in a floating restaurant on the river and then went to a waterfall where you could climb the rocks and slide down into pool, could have stayed there all day but we only had half hour there! then went to Tiger Temple where we stroked the tigers then saw the Buddha lead them up the hill, was pretty cool and apparently theyr not drugged theyr just hand reared and dont eat anything that would give them the taste of blood, bit weird i thought but still amazing to see them so close up! That was a really busy day so that evening I stayed at the guesthouse bar and had a few drinks with some australian girls beofre going to bed - i was knackered!!
Today is my last day in Bangkok so im gna go to Chinatown and sample some Thai food and head to Lumphini Park where theres lots of entertainment and thinbgs to do. I`ve got a coach tonight to take me to Chiang Mai, arrive tomorrow morning.
