Hey there!
Much has happened since I wrote last. So, on with the stories!
Friday was a 'tying up the loose ends' of what we wanted to do. There was alot of walking and seeing much the same things over, and over, and over again.
First we went to the Travel Bookshop in Notting Hill made famous by that movie with flopsy Hugh Grant. Not so exciting as it was closed. All the better really since we would have spent whatmoney we had on books that we can't carry or really afford. Then it was onward to Camden Markets! Fun fun. Not not. Looking at the same clothes or bags that we saw a couple of shops back and being yelled at by an angry woman shop keeper for touching something. Then it was to Hampstead Heath for some R'nR and I nearly fell asleep near one of their many water features. Love those water features. Then a pub lunch with a little bit of tennis to get us pumping for the Freud museum. You don't really need to be pumped for the Freud museum. The highlight for me was the shop but Mich was interested in it (the museum, not the shop), so I was a good friend and went along.
Then we found ourselves at the Mecca to food shops. When we were both living together in China for out Gap year the weekly shop was the highlight (sad? I think not!). So we had some fun looking through all the shelves and planning out our final dinner in London that night. Then we found the vegan food section! Mich nearly fainted with excitement! I didn't :p
We then went our seperate ways on the Underground. Mich for Abbey Road and I for the hostel for some France Lonely Planet reading since we are to go to Epernay on Monday.
The day before we had met some Sweedish girls in London for a holiday and that night we had organised to go out to a club called Roadhouse (I think that's the name). If you're ever in London and you like cheap Vodka Sodas and good music I highly reccommend you hit this place up. Mich didn't come along because she had passed out from tiredness on her bed at about 6pm. So the rest of us got tarted up in our Sunday best for a night on the town in London town! Unfortunately, by the time we had walked to Kings Cross to catch the tube to Covent Garden my new ballet pumps had eaten the back of my feet. Even now they hurt to be stood on or even thought about! Oh, woe is me and my poor little footsies! But apart from that we had a fantastic night dancing and avodiding the strange English guy pic-up ritual. Honestly, what the hell is going on there?!
Back on the bus and me and one of the Sweeding girls were in extreme agony over our sore, painful, excruciatingly painful feet. When we sat down on the full bus at 1:30am it was like heaven. Mhmmmmmm. Maccas at 2am and then hit the sack in preparation for the train to Oxford in the morning!
I was woken up rudely really early this morning by the man in the bunk next to me snoring like there was no tomorrow! It's like he was a jumbo jet going into land, honestly! That did it for me so after 4 hours of sleep we left the hostel and went to Paddington station to catch our train. There must have been a "do" on somewhere because all the time we were sitting and waiting for our train there was a procession of women in garden party dresses and men in pinstriped blazers and brightly coloured pants. Entertaining. Especially when you are watching them to music on your Ipod. Really sets the scene.
One hour, one packed train and a walk later we were at the Oxford Backpackers hostel. The poor man behind the desk was run off his feet because one of his other receptionists had dissappeared in a puff of smoke so he took over an hour to get to us to check us in. But I can report that the dorm and bathrooms are much better than the stuffy, dirty dorm and girl's bathroom at the London hostel.
Planning to meet up a friend from Gap tonight and see the new Twilight movie. Not because I'm a fan but because I want to laugh so hard that my ribs hurt!
Laters!
