Hannah and Liv's Travel Update
After a freezing and uncomfortable night, we awoke to a warming breakfast, which set us up for our morning trek back on the camels. This is when we realised how sore we were, we swopped camels so Liv could take the reigns, and to make up time we raced the whole way back making for a rather bumpy ride! We rode all the way into the golden city of Jaisalmer, where we picked up by our coach and transferred in some luxury to our beautiful hotel. It was situated just outside the city with a good view over it, and a lovely swimming pool which lapped right up to the edge. Our rooms were like separate windmill houses set in pretty gardens. We spent the afternoon on a walking tour of Jaisalmer, visiting the lake by an old gate, all made out of yellow sandstone, and a cute museum where a lovely man guided us round artefacts he'd collected. We then moved onto the old city, and fort which is the only one left that is still inhabited by people. The streets were absolutely minute, and every single building was beautifully and intricately decorated, many were havelis where craftsmen would have lived. There were Jain temples inside, and the streets were full of bazaars, particularly those selling camel leather which was so cheap! We also found a cute German bakery where we took it upon ourselves to stock up on cakes and cookies, well deserved after curry curry curry! We also had some snacks in Trio, a lovely rooftop restaurant overlooking the city, before going back to the hotel for an early night as Liv was feeling ill unfortunately.
