Our body clocks are slowly resetting themselves to wake at 8am and sleep at 1am (except for Ippo of course, she's always up early)
Karen and Michelle checked out of the hotel by 9am and went to check on the car and feed the meter, while 'Swandy' had a little sleep in.
We had a lovely breakfast that was well priced. Coffee, Juice, Croissant & Baguette all for €5.50. the waitress (yes, a female) was fantastic and the coffee was made exactly how we all asked for it.
During breakfast, the clouds came over and it started to rain. It wasn't a heavy shower but enough to make us groan a bit.
The four of us were a group once again and chose to do the tourist walk of the sights to see. Armed with our map we started around the marina.
There were boats of all shapes and sizes and in a particular part of the marina, the 'Bassin A Flot' there was a water lock to keep it full at low tide.
We then passed the port guard towers built in 14th and 15th centuries. These are the most visible remnants of La Rochelle's medieval past.
Although having hundreds of years worth of maritime history more, the general feel of the place is like Fremantle. There's lots of markets, tourists, street performers, boats!
Next was to check out the shopping. All three girls found a lovely silver jewelry shop and each bought a piece.
5pm! It was getting late and we had another big drive to our next destination.
