After our longest drive so far, we arrived in Amboise. So far the lady inside the Tom Tom hasn't let us down!
We were all running low on clean jocks so it was time to find a launderette. Once again, our hotel receptionist was very helpful and gave us directions and suggested a nice restaurant for dinner.
Amboise is a small town of approx 11,000 people, but is home to the most enormous shopping centre! After putting our washing in, we went exploring. This shop was like a Coles, Kmart, Liquorland, Pizza Takeaway and Gourmet Deli all rolled in to one! In one queue, we had a collection of clothing, grog, fresh produce, ready made food, toiletries and groceries!!
We had made our dinner booking for 8pm with the intention of eating early, but with our washing taking longer than expected, we had to delay our reservation by half an hour - even that was wishful thinking!! Once we got there, our table was still waiting for us and we managed to get an English speaking waiter who helped us through the menu. Andy, Swanny and Michelle opted for a set 4 course menu. The food was amazing, voted best so far (as a whole), but I think our eyes were bigger than our bellies. By the time we had finished our main meals, we were adequately full, but still had our selection of cheeses and desserts to go! Luckily we had a decent walk back to the car so we could burn off our overindulgence!
One thing we've all noticed is that the wait staff are mostly male and that they're all very good at what they do. Michelle's words for describing them was that they 'Multi-task like a Mother f***er!'
All tired, time for bed!
