We began the day at Ludwig II's most luxurious former residence, the Neuschwanstein Castle, which was the model for Walt Disney's Cinderalla's castle. Steve and I walked up the hill to the castle, so we feel like we have had our exercise for the day. Pictures were not allowed inside the castle.
The tour guide did not mention the use of the castle to store looted artwork during WW II.
We had lunch near the castle, then went to the Rococo-style Chapel in the Meadow, Wieskirche. It was impressive from the outside, but it was spectacular on the inside. It was built in 1739.
Our last stop was at Linderhof Castle. This was also one of Ludwig II's castles. Linderhof is modeled after Versailles. It is much smaller than versailles and neuschwanstein, but much more ornate than Neuschwanstein.
We had dinner at a cafe near the theater where the Passion Play is held. After that we walked through a cemetery around a local. Church. It was the most heavily decorated cemetery I have ever seen. Every plot looked like a small flower garden.
