Up early and the disembarkation process begins. We had to pack the last few bits and pieces in our hand luggage, had our last breakfast in the windjammer, collected our alcohol from lock up and straight off the ship to hear the bing bong of our sea pass card for the last time.
There was a bit of a queue for immigration and customs but it went quick enough.
We liberated our contraband multitool from where it had languished since day 1 & went looking for a taxi and instead ended up on a bus doing a tour of San Juan.
The guide showed us around both new and old San Juan. We stopped at one of the forts for half an hour and in a square in Old SJ for 2+ hours. We wandered the lovely old cobblestone streets and narrow alley ways lined with colourful homes and shops dating back 400 or more years. We poked our noses into a few shops and stopped at a small cafe for empanadas for lunch, 2 plus 2 beers for $5 lol. In case you wondered we opted for 2 plus 2 waters :-)
The tour ended with dropping us at the airport at 1.30pm, well ahead of our due flight time at 7.40 - note to self, cruise ships don't run late so no need to book a flight 12 hours after they're due to dock!
There's no wi fi at the airport so we played scrabble, had some dinner and generally passed the time til we boarded at 7.20
A fair chunk of it was quite entertaining as a couple next to us almost constantly argued. Guys, you need to realise its far easier to say of course you're right dear and let her have a win. This guy was in no way that smart, every time it started to cool off he'd make another comment and it'd kick off all over again lol Its always funny when its others having the heated argument :-)
While waiting at the departure gate we were floored to see the same couple from the other day that dressed like twins had done it again lol This time they wore matching dress and shirt in blue Hawaiian fabric - last time it was orange ensembles. Again, what makes them think that's ever going to look good? Just when you think you're one of the odder people in the world stuff like that happens and you feel all normal again lmao
Another great flight wit Jet Blue, we'd certainly use them again. No customs at the US end as its considered almost a domestic flight, quickly into a cab & back to Howard johnsons by 11pm for the night. Time to put the feet up except for a huge load of washing from the week on the ship.
