A day at sea as we head back to San Juan past exotic places like the location listed, Montserrat. We neither stopped there nor sighted it but the blog programme requires a location and it would seem in the middle of the Caribbean Sea isn't something it recognises lol
It's been a lazy day, spent for the most part mooching around. We had breakfast in the tides restaurant where we usually have dinner for a change. It's a la carte so far less temptation to over eat lol our dining companion was a lovely woman who lives in Connecticut but is originally from Aruba. The conversation meandered from the usual, where are you from, where have you been through to discussions on US vs Aust indigenous people and the economics of travel in each of our countries. She's worked in the travel industry for a lot of years both in her native Aruba and in the US so has travelled extensively but, like us, this is her first cruise.
Went exploring and found our way to a Q and A session by the Captain, Engineer and Cruise Director. People were asking some interesting q's and they got some very candid answers to things like do you have a jail on board - they do but don't have to use it often.
Wandering for the first time around the outside of level 5 we found the heli pad. From there we could watch the flying fish zipping along the ships wake. They were awesome, some "flying" for 100 m or more!
Checking out the shops we found some good deals and bought ourselves two glass ornaments; an octopus and a jelly fish which we'll put in the fish room, two for $12, bargain. We also bought a pressie for Sue.
I talked Pete into joining me to watch the ships sexiest man comp on the pool deck. We were standing to the side, they asked for 6 lady judges and got 10 lol then they sent each out to grab a guy to enter the comp. One made a bee line for Pete, grabbed him and before he could object he was in the line up! His face was priceless, I don't think I've ever seen him look so helpless as he struggled for a good reason to not do it. Lol Each guy had to dance a little in front of the judges who took advantage of the situation and were all over the contestants lmao It was hilarious. After each guy had done their turn the judges were each asked to judge a certain category, Pete had no chance in most of them, chicken legs, whitest and hairiest legs etc I think as a joke the guy with the least athletic legs won that category which was about the only one Pete stood a chance of winning so like another 3 guys he left without a medal :-( He was so far out of his comfort zone it was really funny to watch and for those wondering, I did get pics so have attached one as the pic of the day :-)
Time to finish off the 2nd bottle of wine we brought on board, pack our bags which will be collected between 7 &11 tonight. We will get them back tomorrow morning after we exit the ship. It's a strange way of dealing with it but that's how it is. If you're a US citizen you can keep your bags and carry them off in the morning, no idea why the discrimination but its a pain in the arse.
Another dinner with great company. We took our camera and put up the Aust flag behind us and got our man Joel to take some pics. I also took the pics Dad took of the tank before we left to show everyone what our tank looks like. Robert doesn't seem to think you could keep a tank like that in Britain so we will have to remember to send him some links to UK tanks. We gave all our table mates our card in case they're ever in Oz. After dinner we went to the centrum bar for a few farewell drinks before saying goodbye to everyone & heading off for an early night.
