Another early start, we still haven't worked out this time change thing this year.
After breakfast we passed by the front desk and ran into Jess's and Steven who had just arrived. They were knackered and off for a kip dur to travelling for 6-7 hours to get here from Hawaii, 6-7 hours bless them lol
We got a call from George and went off to meet him and Michella for coffee and beignets. We got the Cafe Monde first and watched them making the beignets which was actually quite entertaining. The dough goes through a machine to cut them all the same size, get sprinkled with flour so they don't stick together then the guy making them picks them up maybe six at a time and throws them over his shoulder into the huge vat of oil to cook them. He never missed once! Now that's skill.
We spent a few hours with them discussing everything from where we are at to where the hobby and industry in general is at. It was an interesting three hours. While sitting and chatting a lot of peeps passed by on their way to the hall including catching up for the first time with Larry and Veronica.
Just before one we left to meet with Randy and his family and went for lunch in the French Quarter before meeting up with our guide in Jackson Sq for an hour long walking tour. It was pretty cool, maybe it was the heat but she seemed to give us maybe too much info.
After the tour we went back to the convention centre and grabbed our accreditation for the conference and swag bag. Back to the hotel it was a shower we needed most, it was hot out there today.
Down to the bar, couple of drinks courtesy of our room fridge and it was off to the VIP night. This year it was held at a bowling alley, maybe cos we are Aussies it was kind of an odd choice. The turn out didn't seem as big as last year and it all seemed a bit flat, maybe it was just us, maybe it was cos there was only beer which is really not my thing.
We left before midnight and caught up with a few in the hotel bar, Todd Gardiner, Noel and a few others.
Not long after midnight we headed for our room hoping we will sleep til a more normal hour than we have been.
