Day 7 at sea, cruising back to Vancouver
Overnight was very rough with the occasional slam as we came down from a big wave so we slept a bit on and off.
We woke for the last time at our usual sort of time but with the clocks going forward last night by an hour it was nearly eleven am by the time we got to breakfast. As we sat and chatted over coffee the early lunchers were starting the next meal lol
After brwakfast we walked around the deck on six a few times. It was breezy but not too cold and the waves were back down to about 1.5m
As we came into the more protected waters along side Vancouver Island it got calmer and the sun was trying to shine through, much more pleasant :-)
We had a late lunch on the back deck which was bathed in sunshine. It was great to get really warm again :-) we stayed on for some time til the sun went behind a cloud and it cooled off again.
Back in our cabin playing scrabble I noticed we were close to some of the many islands so we went out onto the balcony. It was once again sunny and a huge colony of seals were bobbing up and down clearly feeding on a large school of fish. From between a couple of the small islands a speeding boat came flying out chasing us and when he got along side he began playing a trumpet! It was the funniest thing, numbers like America the Beautiful, Star-Spangled Banner and When the Saints come Marching in ensued and all this while in Canadian waters lol it was hilarious. There were some woo girls on nearby balconies cheering him on and clapping, it was all great fun and all the time the seals played.
Back inside we continued playing scrabble and heard a splash. Rushing back out we found a dolphin was playing in our wake :-)
We took the game out to the balcony and it wasn't not long before pod after pod made bee lines of the ship and played in the wake, so gorgeous :-) One pod, a late comer to the show at just before six was one hundred plus all the while we cruised through some beautiful scenery.
Along the way there were a few large bright red jellyfish cruising slowly by. With all the very welcome interruptions the game took an hour and a half :-)
An incredible red sunset was a fabulous way to end the afternoon.
Dinner, showers, bags packed and we were set for the rush that is disembarkation day tomorrow.
