After the intial awestruckness (did i just make up a word?) of Bangkok we kind of get to grips with the city a bit more. One morning we go visit the Grand Palace which we have been told means wearing trousers and long sleeves due to the religious nature of the site. Usually for a couple of cold blooded Scots like ourselves wearing jeans and jumpers in the stifling Bangkok heat would be unbearable but to our delight it rains the morning we are scheduled to go and the temperatures are slighty more bearable! However half an hour into our tour around the palace to sky clears and a glorious sunshine breaks out in the sky! Me and Anna quickly make the decision that we need to get back to the hotel and shed some layers .......and quickly! The next half an hour unfolds with us perspiring uncontrollably as we dodge from one section of shade to the next on our way to the exit and collapse breathless into a heavenly air conditioned taxi! Our 5 days in Bangkok (we did do other stuff i just can't be bothered writing about it :-) ) is soon up and as we reflect on it whilst sitting in the airport waiting for our flight to Phuket we are agreed.........it would have been much easier at Butlins!
