Now that the Taj Mahal has been seen it was time to leave Agra. We had prepared ourselves for a 3:30am departure for the train station but in full India style the train was over 5 hours late. Luckily our tour leader was nice enough to let us go back to bed giving us notices every hour as to when the train would arrive. We finally made the train and it was bit better than the last one. Unfortunately we were in a sleeper car and we had top bunks. If you can image us pretzling onto a single bed with only about 3 feet of head room for 4 hours. I guess all in the experience! Being one of the only white people on the train sure did summon up a lot of stares! Actually a lot of the Indians stare like they have never seen a white person before! They also love to have their photos taken with us I think it is so they can brag to their friends about having a white friend. We might have to start charging!
We arrived in Ranthambore safe and sound. That afternoon we took a trip up to a Hindu temple nestled in the hill. It was a very spiritual place and for once we felt some peace in India. The next morning we headed out on a safari of the national park to find tigers. The park was beautiful and saw lots of birds and deer but no tiger. That afternoon Dave took another trip out but still no tigers. We had an opportunity to go to a shop where they make scarves and rugs. Some of the handiwork is amazing.
So unfortunately we didn't see the tigers but had a little bit of peace and quiet before heading back to a busy city.
