Hi everyone
So after feeling like HCMC chewed us up & spat us out we decided to move on to Mui Ne beach, up the coast. Bus cost 5$ each and was supposedly a 4 hr trip- was actually 6 1/2 hrs... We are learning to add 2 hrs onto whatever time they tell us! Although 6 1/2 hrs to do 200km is beyond unbelievable! Annoyingly we were reading our bootlegged lonely planet of Vietnam ( which we stole from the room made for dwarfs) on the bus trip to Mui Ne & read up all about the Cu Chi tunnels in HCMC which are basically a maze of underground tunnels spanning 250km ( all the way to the Cambodian border!) that the Vietnamese made during the war, people lived in them & there were trap doors, booby traps, a hospital! And lots more.... Sam would have bloody loved it! Oh well! Maybe next time.
Made some friends on the bus, a couple called Tim & Laura from Cheshire & we are starting to feel like were "couple pulling" Ha ha!
The 4 of us went sand sledding yesterday on some white & Red Sand dunes. It was really fun but we got absolutely caked In sand and I had to wash my hair 3 times to get it all out! The sand was so fine & it sticks to you like white on rice ;)
Sam & I decided to sack of the plastic sheet they give you & roll down the dunes on our sides, got a good video of it.
Went to a cool waterfall & watched the sun set over the dunes.. All for 8 bucks!
Our room is nice and is in a 2* resort... We couldn't find anything online so we went with the guy we bought our bus tickets from & he said we wouldn't find anything under 15$ a night so we took this place for 15$ + breakfast. It's got really high ceilings which we need after the hovel in HCMC and has a pool. It's right on the beach & they have 3 pet rabbits & 3 pet guinea pigs they let roam around the grounds freely... Very cute!..... Only downside is it's a 25 min walk to the main part of town. Still having walked to & from town 5 times yesterday we are certainly getting our exercise in & mentally clocking the calories we burnt! ;)
Went for some Italian food last night as I miss pasta & drooled over my penne bolognaise whilst Sam had a pizza... Mmmm.
I know it's a deviation from my staple pasta pesto but it had to be done!
It's overcast & very windy today so just chilling on the beach watching the hundreds of kite surfers shredding up the sea... They make it look easy but for 250$ for a full days training & use of equipment... I won't be trying it!
Staying here until Sunday then off to Nha Trang for no doubt another 6+ hr bus ride!
Beach is lovely & working on the tan...
Until next time amigos.
Adios

Jez Take the train up the coast guys! An experience you'll never forget ;) haha xx Off the shore in Nha Trang is a private island/resort called Vinpearl Resort. You get to the island by cable car - you can't miss it! And it's actually pretty cool sailing about 200 metres above the bay over to it. Once over there, there's a waterpark on the island for visitors (bout $10 i think?) which is actually alright for a laugh. Also a kind of zoo there as well. Entry to the whole lot is paid on the mainland before you get on the cable car, at the ticket office there....if you're looking to kill an afternoon like we were back then? :) x Enjoy the beach guys x
Vickey Hey jez! Going to train it from Nha Trang onwards ;) thanks for the tip about the resort- sounds fun! Also heard about a place called paradise which is pretty remote- in doc let I think & you pay 15$ each for a room & all meals! Might give that a go! Xx Can't use FB on the Internet here Which is odd... Can use the app on my phone but not on a comp- did you find that in Nam? Xx
