Hello all!
We decided to leave Siem Reap and head out to the coast. We took the midnight sleeper bus for 15$ each down to Phnom Penh (7hrs) waited an hour and took a connecting bus to Sihanoukville (5hrs)
The bus was ok, although it didn't have the beds we were promised we both kitted up - ear plugs, sleeping mask & blow up pillow. The first hour felt like trying to sleep on a roller coaster as the driver was going really fast and over lots of pot holes & bumps! Slept most of the way and made it onto the 2nd bus. This bus played an endless number of Bollywood films, picked up so many locals that they all sat in the isles on plastic chairs & shouted into there phones making it impossible to sleep, the cherry on the cake was a cambodian girl puking on the bus just as she got off, leaving us with the putrid smell! Nice!
Found the place we are staying - Mushroom point in Otres beach which is a quiet beach area away from the drunkern American teenagers we were warned about on serendipity beach. It's about 20 paces to the beach & really chilled out.
We are staying in mushroom hut which is cool & I am currently writing this whilst chilling in a hammock ;)
The beach is lovely except the massage girls, braclet & fruit sellers all want a monopoly on your money & for you to always spend with them. I kept saying maybe when pushed with such offers and I think I might have started a turf war!!
They also point out all the hairs on your body & offer to "thread" them for you. Having had an entire morning of different women pointing at my legs & armpits on different occasions I now have a complex & will no doubt be shaving tonight. I will be the most well groomed woman on the beach come tomorrow!
Got a bit carried away having finally hit the beach and after day 1 and I look like a " lobster on south beach" according to sam!
Found a drink called Black Panther- Cambodian Guinness, it's 8% and we only need 2 each to be pretty merry! 1.25$ each - it would be rude not to right?!
Going to stay here until the end of the week I think, then make our way to Ho Chi Minh City for a fleeting visit then out to a beach again!
Life is good!
Lots of love
Sam & Vickey
P.S Happy birthday mum!

Jez So glad you found a quiet beach away from the idiots on Serendipity beach. Wish we'd stayed where you are now. Enjoy the heat and the sun; it's getting pretty bloody chilly here now! Sink another Black panther for us! xx
Vickey Consider it done jez! Wish you were all here sinking Black Panthers with us! Moving guest house tomorrow to one for 1/2 the price 2 doors down but still on the beach! Will try & get more photos on here but they take so long to upload! B&B- you might just have to join facebook!! Xx
Sam u elle I must admit that the bus journey was really gash... I can't believe my luck when I got a little whiff of puke! Ha... We met this Ozzie guy last night who has built his own boat and is going to take it on trips around the local islands. I'd love to do that... So Planning on how I can bump him off and steal his boat without getting caught. Also the mosquitos here are a nightmare, had a bite yesterday that was bigger than a 50p piece!
