We woke up around 7:30am and went down to breakfast at the local cafe which was situated across the road at the hotel. We ordered a baguette each plus a coffee and hot chocolate and watched as the local Parisians went about their early morning coming in and out on their way to work.
When we finished breakfast Steve and Larry went to find an ATM and Donna and Amanda went to pack the cases for the trip to London.
Steve got the money and then stopped off to look at La Madeleine church which is a massive structure just a couple of streets away from the hotel. It looked quite decrepit from the outside but on entry it revealed a truly gothic and authentic Catholic Church. The best part was that there was no one inside and you could take in the beauty of the church without the normal tourist hustle and bustle.
At 11am we checked out and made our way to Gare du Nord which is the Eurostar gateway to London by train. We checked in and within the hour we were on our way to the Old Dart. The train sped along the French countryside while we had a couple of beers, pizza and toasted sandwiches. Day turned to night as we entered the 'Chunnel' and the next 20 minutes was a surreal experience as we crossed from France to England. We got into London on time, grabbed a cab and headed to the hotel.
The hotel was typically English with a white frontage and stunning wallpaper. Our room was small but had a separate bathroom and cloak room to put our luggage so was a pleasant surprise after the small room we had in Paris.
We walked down Cromwell Rd towards Harrods Department store. We all had a look around and the boys found the nearest pub while the girls looked around further. We all met for tea at the pub and then headed back to the hotel to bed.
