Hola!
We have now returned from the galapagos - so heres a snap shot of my last 5 days
- we left our hostel - this timew with no altitude sickness from anyone - hurrah! and left for the Galapagos - our flights hadn´t been very well explained to us but we got there eventually and landed in the Galapagos - IT WAS BOILING!!!! we got a boat across to Santa Cruz where we stayed during our trip. We got lunch at our hotel and then went to the Darwin research centre, we got to see where they breed the giant tortoises and to see land iguanas, and generally leasrn about the islands which was night. We then dabbled at a bit of karaoke that evening - there were very fews songs in english, so the Beatles Let it Be was our song of choice!
The next day we went to Florena and saw the giant tortoises naturally, and volcanic deposits, and had a very nice lunch on the island. in the afternoon we saw some Blue footed Boobies - yay! and went snorkelling and saw stingrays, and all sorts of amazing fish - including Dory Fish!! Our boat broke down for a bit, but we got to see some turtles swimming by so it was all good! We went to another smaller island and swam with sea lions, and tried to find some sharks to swim with but failed, but we did swim with turtles instead - which excited me a lot ;-)!!!
The next day we went to Santa Fe - there were loads of sea lions that we swam and snorkelled with, they came so close, about 1m away and made eye contact with us - it was very surreal.. In the afternoon we went to the east coast of Santa Cruz and saw wild flamingos and a beach swim which was nice.
The day after that, we went to Tortuga Bay, and had a swim there and got scared by the huge amounts of giant wasps everywhere, saw Pelicans diving, n the afternoon we went to the volcanic caves on the island which were massive - people used to live down there because it´s cooler ´- i can´t blame them, i´ve never been anywhere so hot!! Some of our guides didn´t speak the best English, so we got a surprise that evening since apparenty there was a BBQ for us andeveryone else in our tour group (everyone spoke spanish except us....) we went to a ranch, rode horses, did some very cheesy dancing to the YMCA and bonded with our spanish speaking group without sharing a word which was nice!
The next day was time to leave, we went via the giant craters and flew back to Quito. Then in the afternoon we went to Mitdad del mundo - the middle of the world and saw the ecuator line!!!!!!!!!!! we got to do all sorts of fun experients like the water running down the drain ;-)
Today we travelled to Latacunga (or something similar to that.... all this spanish is confusing!!!) and tomorrow we plan to go to the massive lake in the area for an early monring hike - exciting times!!
The next 2 weeks are going to be crazy busy - we´re heading to the East of Peru to do a 3 day Amazon rainforest tour, and then need to get down in time to start the Inca Trail at Cusco in 14 days time!!! EEEEP!!!
Sorry for such a quick blog - hope everyone is good and you´re enjoying the few pics I´ve managed ton upload!

Zuri The Galapagos Islands are the most incredible living museum of evolutionary changes, with a huge variety of exotic species (birds, land and sea animals, plants) and landscapes not seen anywhere else. http://www.galapagos-islands-tourguide.com
