A couple of years ago I watched the movie The Way written by Emilio Estivez. It was about a man who lost his son on The Camino. They did not get along very well . In fact the father wasn't happy that his son wanted to do The Camino. But his son went anyways and died while traveling. The father had to travel to Europe to claim his son's dead body. He did that and decided to walk the Camino with his son's ashes in his own backpack. He finished the walk for his son. But learned about himself in the process.
It was a deeply moving movie for me. But I knew it was I jouney I was not going to take. I liked B&B's or nice hotels. But that was several years ago.
On June 29th, 2014 I leave for Spain. I will fly into Barcelona. I'll travel to Balbao to see the New Guggenheim Museum and the cathedral there. Catch up on jety lag and then off to St. Jean to start my trip.
The truth is, the trip has already started...
