Hola! alrighty so after Jarabacoa we went to Santiago on Saturday for a night. It was nothing special but we did laundry (which we really needed to do!) and we toured a museum that had the history of the DR and such. The next day we traveled to Cabarete which is where we are now. Cabarete is a like surfing town that is situated along the beach and is really cool. There are a lot of foreigners that live here, especially germans. We are staying at Ali´s surf camp which is just outside of town. It is made up of a lot of little bungalos with a restaurant and a pool. There are a lot of people staying here and coming and going. Right now there are four english guys, one american guy who left today, and quite a few germans. They are all a lot of fun! Yesterday morning was our first surfing lesson and we both got up a few times so that was good! Then in the afternoon we traveled to a beach about an hour away called playa grande with the group. It is the beach in the picture above. It was post card perfect. We paddled until our arms couldn´t move anymore and there were no waves, but it was really nice to chill there and be in the water. This morning was our second lesson and it was a little more difficult than yesterday. The waves were bigger and our arms were killing us but we both got up a few times! Stacie still has all of her limbs and a few people have told us there are no sharks so she is a little less terrified. Today in a few hours we are going with all the europeans to an irish pub to watch the barcelona vs. manchester soccer game. Everyone is pretty excited and it is going to be happy hour so it should be fun! We may go surfing after it just depends on the game and if we can move our arms. The food at camp is also worth blogging about. The chef is pretty much a genious and we get two wonderful meals a day. The food here has been pretty good everywhere. We haven´t had a bad meal and we have had a few excellent ones. The travelling hasn´t been bad at all either. The dominicans are the nicest people in the world and are always helping us from one place to another. Most of the time we ride in guaguas which are vans packed full and we have our packs on our laps. Twice we rode on a big bus with AC and that was nice. Alright well we will probably blog once more before we leave for las terranas. Adios!
