th On the bus from Valenica to Madird, once in Madrid we gatherd a crew together and brought bottles of 2 euro red wine and headed to beautiful park. After dark we stumbled back to the hostel while destorying a few flower bed along the way. Madrid, the noiest city in the world, or atleast the noiest city Ive ever been in. Yes out hostel is right in the city, on a main drag, but the sirens goes every 20 mintues and there is a constant raw from cars and people. We could'nt decide wether to keep the window open to allow frsh air in or to keep some of the noise out and sweat all night. The heat wone and i had little sleep.
th There isnt much in Madrid, however we visited a huge football stadium, not so exciting for us girls but the boys loved it. We went shopping scanning the shops for a computer that i dreamed to buy, electrical items are just so expensive in Europe. We brough some more singlets, it seems we are so sick of wearing the same clothes, but we dont have much cloice. Im still pondering whether to throw out my jeans, i havent worn my jeans since Vienna. But they may come in handy.
th Nothing overly exciting, had a long siesta and ventured out to celebrate Chris's birthday where we organised yet again an awsome picnic and indulged in the park with food and bevarages. We sat in the park until the sprinklers came on, 1am we frantically collected the speekers and ipod and trecked back to the hostel. Another great night. Apparenly when we got back to the hostel 'we were selfish b****es' quotes by our room mate. I dont know what her problem, yes we made a few noise but hell its a hostel it over it, she needed to lay off the grumpy pills. After we swaped a few words she decided it would be best to change rooms. Thank god. She definatly off my xmas list. I loved what she said, i may have to use it myslef 'were u born this selfish or is it somthing you have developed over time'. Classic.
th Free walking tour, free meaning you tip as much as you think they are worth. This tour was good, it gave me an insite into the history of Spain, its politics and war. We vistied such sites as Catedrals, chruchs and town squares, suprise suprise. But one of the funny stories the guide told us was to do with this giant hollow bronze suclputure of a man on a bucking horse. When it was knocked over in the was it broke in half and revealed the skeleton of thousands of tiny birds. What happened was the little birds would fly into the open horses mouth and become disorientated and trapped into the belly of the horse. So when they rebuilt the statue the horse mouth was closed. That night we went out to dinner at a resturant that appeared to be posh expensive but meals where only 8euro and it was delicious.
th A day of Museums, we visited Coixa Forum Madird which was free. The artist on exhibition was Alphone Mucha. Impressive. I really apperciated it, i think i might have to add him to my favourites list. We also vistied the Centro de Arte Feina Sofia, were artist such as Savador Dali and Picasso were on display. On our way back to teh hostel we walked through the Prague de Retiro park and saw the Angle Caido which we were told is the only religious sculputre in the world to depict satian. Spent the rest of the afternoon researching running with the bulls. Ah scary but exciting. Another great dinner and tried to get an early night.
