Finally Barcelona. We were greeted with the news that there was no accommodation. Well to begin the story we had planned to stay with a friend on their boat. But we were unable to contact them, so as 8pm role in we were a little worried where to stay. After a few beverages at the hostel and a few newly made friends they offered one of their bed as they were ok to sleep in the same one. So snuggled up to Elyse it was bed time. Ah the joys of backpacking.
Now this was a busy hostel. With a free breakfast and a full hostel you could of imaging how hectic brekkie was. It was a s*** fight for the cocco pops I tell you. We set off on our day, (Elyse with a hang over) to go and see Antoni Gaudi's work. Now for those who don't know who he is well he was an amazing architect of the 18th century who revolutionised a new style of design. We visited Gaudi's famous church La Sagrada Familia, it is far from finished but due to be complete in 2020. But still amazing. Nothing like you will ever see anywhere. Also visited Palau Guell and other building he designed. I was happy and we resorted back to the house where we weren't officially staying and had a siesta, god bless the Spanish.
Now I have mentioned the Euro 08 cup well, Spain and Germany were in the finals. Well we had to watch the game, we cheered the Spanish on and what do you know they won. What and experience. The whole street was alive with people cheering, throwing fire crackers and drinking. There were people everywhere, even up light poles. What a scene. I'm so glad we were in Spain and note Germany. Ahha After wrestles sleep in our one bed, which we actually payed for. We went on a long walk to park Guell, a fantastic Park of ceramic mosaic sculptures and stairways. Gaudi's work of course! Hear we found the world longest park bench with multicoloured tiles. Ah amazing. We spent the afetrnooon lazing about the hostel, nothing too exciting.
The next nighty we splerged and went on a Spanish cooking class and pub crawl. We learnt how to make true Sangeria and paellia. Ill send you the recipe when i get it. after a jug or two on Sangeria (consisting of Blanci Vino (red wine), rum, sugar, lemonade, fanta and fruit) and a full plate of paellia we ventured out on the killer pub crawl. Might i add this was the best paellia Ive ever had. The pub crawl was awsome, tequila, beer, shots and cream.... we will leave it as that. But no night would be the same without glass in your foot. But dont worry its was only a minor incident and was all good three days later. We crawled home at 5am and took a full day to recover. We didnt even venture outside the hostel. Hehe
Barcelona to Valienca. We were about to board the bus at 8am when the from the hostel came out to ask us where our door card was. We responded as anyone who didnt pay for accomodation would, ¨our firends bring it down´ so he went away and we ran and hid around the corner. Thinking we go away, he soon returned and asked us one again. where is your card? We thought we were in the s***. So i said i lost it............................ he replyed with ´that will be two euro for the lost card´. hahah we thought we were going to have to pay for the accomodation and all he wanted was 2euro. hhaha close call.
We arrievd in Valencia and found out we were staying in the coolest hostel. Killer kitchen, awsome common room and even a roof deck. Besided the fact that there wasnt any air-con in the rooms i guess the other perks made up for it.
