Today was much better than the last sorkelling trip. To start with the driver was our Thai friend from the village (yesterday we watched the football tournament after steve had insisted; and we made friends with a man and his cute litle girl who loved to play peekabo).
Our first stop was at a lagoon it was about 2 meters deep but you could still see the bottom. The lagoon ws surrounded by limestone. It was a beautiful sight. we all just swam around and jumped off the boat!
Nex stop was snorkeling and the fish were better here, there was more variety and the coral was actualy alive! Where we had gone before the coral was dead - its just a funny kind of browny colour, where sas here we saw all sorts of multi colour plants!
After that we stopped off at the beach where 'The Beach' was filmed. It was nice but there were too many tourists and quite a bit of litter floating around. The worst part was the toilets - they smelt worse than the toilets at v festival! Considering you have to pay 4 pound each to get on the island you would think they could clean the place?!!?
After that we headed to Phi Phi which was horrible! I am so glad we didnt stay here. As soon as you step off the boat you are surrounded by tout people tying to sell you day trips. It does seem weird being there tho! All we could think about was the tsunami. We saw a postacrd that showed you how much it had devastated the island- it was horrile. Alot if people have said that since the Tsunami; western companies have built up the huge hotels and the thai people now work for them rather than befor they would have run their own little resorts. Its such a shame that they have lost everything!
After leaving the delights of Phi Phi we visited Monkey Island. As soon as we anchored the monkeys jumped on board waiting for us to feed them bananas. I never knew mokeys could swim but they seemed to love the water they would jump from the boat and swim to shore then chase each other around.
Our final stop was bamboo island. Another beautiful island with powder white sand and turquoise clear water! We just sat there for an hour taking in the beauty.
This has probably been the best day so far.
