Morning all avid readers, steven here. Thought we better get a blog in before we get our over night train to split tonight. Tuesday started with 2 out of the 3 of us being pretty nakered due to some rather loud (to say the least) snoring from (we think) a chinese bloke. Anna and I were both pretty tempted to throw stuff at him during the night to make him shut up!!!
The tuesday was my "secondary" birthday so we headed to the zoo, my favourite place. Tom started by "grabbing the bull by the horns" its a metaphor but seriously it actually happened though (that was for the younger readers). When we got in pretty much the first thing we saw was a bit where you could go in the with the animal (which included sheep, pigs and goats). I was extremely tempted by this but was more concerned about getting poo on my new shoes!! We saw many other animals including a lynx which we pretty much had to trek half way up a mountain to get to, thankfully we saw and it wasnt hidden away in some bush as im sure the 3 of us would NOT have been very pleased after the journey there!!! The visit to the zoo finished with the 3 of us be scared half to death by a certain couple of porcupines who were getting rather animated eating their sweet corn. Lets just say I wouldnt mess with their spines!!
In the evening we went out in search of some traditional Slovenian food. We were recommended a place which I cant remember the name of but will certainly be able to tell you when i dredge through our many photos which im sorry to say we havent had the chance to try put up still. If we hadnt been told about it we would have never been able to find it! I had Venisson salami with white salty cheese, it may sound a bit on the strange side but it was bloody good i can tell you that!! Anna and Tom both had Gnocci with wild Slovenian forest mushroom which again was and i quote "bloody good". We thought this was good but we were in for a treat with deserts! We shared 2 portions of pancakes and 1 portion of apple struddle. The pancakes were ridiculous! They were massive but tasted pretty amazing but in my opinion (which im certain tom and anna will disagree on) the struddle was super! We ended the night having a bit to drink at a club called Roxly. I shall now pass you over to miss browne, bye for now.
OK well now for wednesday. We thought we should probably be a little cultured at some point in slovenia so we decided to head up to the Castle. Now we thought the trek up to see the lynx was like going up a mountain, but it felt like climbing Everest to reach the castle!! All i kept thinking was I seriously hope the inca trail is not like that or me and thomas will probably die! The castle was really pretty and unlike all the other ones we have seen since it has been gradually restored and so has a kind of modern edge. We walked back down to the center via Dragon bridge. Apparetly this is the dragon Jason from Jason and the argonaughts slayed when he had the golden fleese. We then did a little bit of shopping. To my great suprise tom and steve both said, and i quote, "yay!! we can do some shopping!!!" This happiness was short lived however when steven got very annoyed that he couldnt find a plain black v-neck sweater in his size. Now dinner last night was VERY intereseting! sorry in advance to all those who will think we are totally disgusting but we decided to try another slovenian dish. A horse flesh rump steak. however this was a bit expensive so went to a kebab shop for a horse meat burger instead! yes now i know what you are thinking, 1 gross, 2 horse? and 3 HORSE??!!but is was actually rather yummy. In the evening we thought we were gona have a quiet evening in. however, we met a bunch of aussie guys back at the hostel and they had veryy different ideas! Ended up playing drinking games and then went to Klub K4. All in all very fun and drunken evening ending with a pizza and falling into bed at 2.30am.
Today we are just relaxing until we get our night train to split at 8pm. We get free internet there again so will update you all soon.
bye
