Hey good evening, thomas here. Well we got the overnight train from Ljubljana to Zagreb then on to split arriving at 7. The train was prettytough to sleep on althought anna managed it pretty well given she was lying over 3 seats. Steve and i faired a little worse as we were sitting upright and drifted in and out of sleep.
We spilled out of the train into a crowd of older generation Croatian offering us accomodation. We took up the offerof a strange Croatian man called Darko and walked to his flat which was supposedly 50 metres away but was more like 500! Us and the Aussies we came to split with had a quick turn around and then the three of us went to look around the beautiful city of split.
We started by going around the local market and soon realised how cheap Croatia is (a drink in a bar for half a litre of beer is 1 pound 20). After having a very cheap pick me up drink we headed out for a walk along the coast and all came to the conclusion that now Croatia is the most beautiful place we have visited. Now over to steve.
Howdy from Croatia. I shall pick up from where Thomas left off. After walking around Croatia we had built up a bit of an appitite and remembered seeing a place in the market that sold cooked chicken, so we picked up one of those along with a load of vegetabes and sauce and made a nice little stir fry which was super! The 3 of us were planning to get an early night after the limited sleep the night before on the train but the Aussies used the superior persuasion skills to had a little to drink and we ended up getting a little drunk and going out (so much for the early night).
Today we woke up early in "Apartment Darko" splitting (pun intented) company with the Aussies who were heading off to Dubrovnik. Anna was feeling a little under the weather after the night before but perked up after a sit down on her own while Tom and I climbed a tower. I say Tom and I, I actually mean Tom and I got half way. We decided to get a ferry to an island called Brac to a little settlement called Supetar (not superstar as we would have liked it to be called!). This was probably the best decision we have made since we were away as it was one of the prettiest little places we had all ever been. This in our opinions now made Split our favourite place on our travels so far.
In the evening we went out for a meal which again was very nice, so far we have not had a bad meal (touch wood). Anna and I both had Black Squid Rissoto and Tom had Scampi Rissoto. After last night we held off the alcohol so washed our dinners down with ice cream and pan cakes for pudding.
