Well here i am back in sydney yet again followng a hectic 3 weeks with mum and dad. Before mum and dad arrived i checked into the hotel in darling harbour. I had forgotten what it is like to stay in a hotel - when i checked in the bell boy came and took my lugguage from and took it up to my room, what luxury compared to having to drag my backpack up flights of stairs and staying in dormitries! Anyway i managed to drag myself out of bed to meet mum and dad at the airport around 6am on the monday morning. we then spent 10 days in sydney doing all the touristy things including the tour around the opera house, the blue mountains, darling harbour, the aquarium, the rocks, toronga zoo, and paddys market. We even managed to get mum on the steepest railway in the blue mountains - i dont think mum will be doing that again! Dad climbed the harbour bridge in the rain and we checked out bondi beach in the sunshine.
We then headed down to melbourne after an early start, i managed to make a mistake with the booking and arranged the flight so it took us in to avalon airport which is about 50 minutes away fromt he city. We were all crammed on this double decker bus for 50 mins, I spent the whole journey worrying that mum was ok on the bus as she doesnt travel well! All was ok and we checked in to hostel. I cant believe mum and dad agreed to staying in a hostel, well they did have have a double room and i stayed in the dorm. We spent 2 days around melbourne, we hit the MCG for a tour fo the ground,i booked tickets for Miss Saigon which was absolutely amazing - mum couldnt stop going on about it! We visited the vic markets for a few hours before heading out to Phillip island to see the parade of the fairy penguins. It was so cold there, we had to sit out on this platform until dusk when graduall acouple hundred of these fairy penguins came out from the sea and walked all the way up the beach and up the hill side to their burrows. they were so cute! the next day we hired a very nice car (a mitsibushi outlander) which i drove most of the way ont he first day down the great occean road. It was soo good having a car as it meant we could stop every 5 minutes to take pictures of the views and the amazing coastline. We were so lucky with the weather - we had a gorgeous couple of days, with no rain! We even made it to the 12 appostles by sunset - literally by the skin of our teeth! the next day we had a leisurely drive back to the airport in the city to fly on to Tasmania.
We arrived very late in Tasmania and got the shuttle to the hotel - well it was really something in between a hostel and a basic hotel but it was clean and actually very close tot he main centre in hobart. the next morning we got up and wandered around the waterfront, seeing a seal in the the harbour and going on a cruise around the river. that evening we got met by Heinz and Marlene (friends of mum and dads) and this is where we stayed for the nbext 3 nights. they lived in a house on the outskirts of hobart. it was so nice i had a room all to my self again, what bliss! OPver the next few days we headed out and about around hobart, we visited the town of Ross, the Russell falls where we even got to see a duck billed platypuss. Heinz had only just said to dad they they are wild but he had never seen any and literally a couple of seconds later we saw for about 5 minutes whilst it was building a nest, i cant believe how lucky we were to have seen it! Heinz and Marlene also took us out to Bruny Island, just a little ferryn ride from hobart - it was a lovely little island with some amazing views - so as per usual we took a few photos! On our last day in Tasmania it chucked it down with rain. Luckily the clouds cleared for a bit and we got taken up to Mount Wellington. Again fantastic views, the clouds came in and out but it ws freezing up there - i need ear muffs! Later that night we flew back to sydney ready for mum and dad to fly on to Singapore the next day.
it was a very busy 3 weeks, but it was so nice to see mum and dad aswell as stay in hotel for a few weeks. god knows how many photos mum took!
