hey guys,
Well since i last wrote i have had a busy couple of weeks. I am now back in sydney after 10 months of travelling around australia, and this week is going to be used to give my liver a rest from the last weeks of partying! Over the last 6 weeks i have had an awsome time, i have had some great new housemates, one english girl, one canadian and two irish. And all we have done is party party party! They have really made my last few weeks in melbourne great.
I finished work a week and a half ago, i was sad to leave as it was a fantastic experience for me, they gave me so much feed back which always helps to boost your confidence. On my leaving I got a bouquet of flowers - as you can imagine being backpackers we dont have any vases, so its amazing how an empty wine bottle and sports drinking bottle can be utilised.
Apart from working i have been out drinking every weekend, back to my usual self! We hit our local PJ Obriens i think almost every weekend. The big drinking started the weekend of the bank holiday (labour day) - on the friday i was planning on having a quiet night in when lesa jumped on me with shot glasses and insisting that i do the centurian with them, it didnt matter how much i pleaded with them not to do it i managed to get talked into it - i basically downed 60 shots of bacardi breezers in 60 minutes (thats one every minute). I only stopped because the drink was so gassy! As you can imagine it turned into a fun night - as per usual when the irish guys got drunk, they began to sing their county songs. i so love to hear the irish sing! The sat night i went out with martina and browny and my friend from work, we hit pJ's again. On the sunday the drinking started about 4pm for me. We were all in an irish pub with a really good irish singer - there was about 15 guys all from various parts of ireland - all singing and dancing, we then moved on to the next pub to follow the irish singer again. I didnt get to eat until about 2am the next morning - so as you can imagine it was a very drunken night again! we all then spent the bank holiday monday dying!
The following week was the St Patricks Day, i went out with my flatmates again and later we met up with all of Jonny and Lesa's mates. As you can imagine i was in my total element that night as the pub was full of irish guys! Anyway we hit the pub at about 5pm and stayed in the same place all night long. Wew had a great time with just the 6 of us, all messing about and passing the silly hats around, then the live singer started up again (the same one from the previous week) that room was absolutely heaving, way too many drinks being spilt and people being shoved about, by this point i wasnt really enjoying it was ready to home.
The next morning i had an early start, i was heading out to the grandprix in albert park with Angela and Paula to meet up with marie, martina, browny and linda. Unfortunatley we were a bit slow to get going so didnt get the best spot. We still got to see the race - oh my god it was so loud (we had to wear ear plugs it was that loud), which doesnt help when you have a hangover! The cars went so fast that you actually couldnt keep up with the race. We were able to walk on the track afterwards and walk up tot he pit lanes. i managed to get a few good photos including David Coultards smashed up car. I am glad i went but wouldnt do it again as i couldnt follow the race fully, i think i will just watch it on the tv screen instead.
My last week was spent just around melbourne, i made it out to the neighbours tour one day, that was ok but def not worth the money - we didnt get to see any filming and didnt get to go into the studio but we did see the street and we got to meet Harold Bishop (that was the 3rd time i met him in melbourne). ihave to say the street was tiny, there were only six houses in, i was expecting it to be bigger than that! I also made it out to the Grampions on friday. That was good, very similar to the Blue mountains - but it was so dry and dusty. it was a very long day - i got picked up at 7.10am and didnt get dropped off until 10.15 (so that was about 15 hours altogether!) the day i went happened to be hottest day in a long time, it hit about 35 degrees, not fun when you are climbing 232 steps back up from a water fall. it was a lovely day and i am glad i did it, i got to see a bit more of the surrounding area of melbourne.
My last weekend in melbourne was spent sorting out all of my stuff, i had accumulated so much stuff that i have had to chuck some bits and donate a lot to charity. Sat night i hit PJ's agin with my friend from work, we had a great time again, unfortunately some of my other friends couldnt make it but i still had a good time anyway. Sunday was yet another early start for me as i went to see the World Swimming Championships (it was actually held in the rod lvaer tennis arena - its amazing what they can do!) The one thing i dont understand is that the state of victoria is in a drought, how can they justify using so much water? i was at the swimming just after 10am and the heats didnt finish until just after 3pm. it was a great atmosphere - especially when the 4x100m relays were on. I am so glad i managed to get there and see some of it. The troupble was i died all afternoon and crashed really early sunday night.
So here i am now in Sydney, sorting out those final things, before my parents arrive on monday next week, i so cant wait to see them. once they go home i will only have 3 weeks left, so see you all in under 7 weeks.
