More rain this morning. Alarm went off at 7.30 - got kids up and dressed, as Vichelle due at 8.30. Sat in communal area eating supermarket food & coco pops for breakfast!
Received message at 8.45 that V was going to be 30-40 mins late, as his house was flooded ("floating"). Waited with a coffee until he arrived at ~quarter to ten.
Drove through (partially) receding floods to buy tickets ($40 / adult) & set off for Angkor Wat. Far fewer tourists around than expected - a positive side effect of the continuing rainy weather!
Spent a couple of hours exploring Angkor Wat (huge!), then Bayon (faces!), before stopping for food at the GH lady's restaurant at Angkor Thom ($20 *with* discount - pricey!!).
Then past the terraces of the Elephants & Leper King to 2 small temples: Chou Say Tevoda & Thommanon. Then to Takeo & finally Ta Prohm (trees!).
At which point the tuk-tuk broke down!
Spent 40 mins+ watching a gaggle of tuk-tuk drivers attempt to fix the motor cycle. Eventually set off (at about 5 miles per hour), but after 10 mins, the bike finally died, and we had to hitch a lift home on another tuk-tuk with a nice, young, Scottish couple.
Tea, gin & bed.
