J woke @7.15am feeling a lot better, and managed not one, but two plates of cheese toasted sandwiches, courtesy of Paddy! L&D had full "American Breakfasts", M banana pancake & milkshake.
Very hot morning, so sat and chilled, first at Paddy's pub, then at the Guest House.
Walked into town midday-ish, met Tony (Brit ex-pat, now living locally to be near his wife's family) at pub, & D hitched a lift on the back his moped to change a $50 note into smaller denominations. Pretty scary journey at times: the roads seem pretty law-less, and Tony had already had 2 or 3 beers for breakfast! Changed money, and had a quick guided tour around KKK.
Back to the pub, then a very hot walk, basically following the route of the moped ride. Checked out the market (smelly!); then to Bob's Place (owned by Aussie ex-pat, who sat drinking beer, chatting to other European blokes, whilst the local women (one poss his wife) served us) for Ice cream & milkshakes.
Hired a Tuk-tuk in the middle town for a $10 ride to the mangrove swamps. Journey VERY bumpy at times, due to state of roads (or lack of them!) Walked through mangroves to 4 storey viewing tower, for a great view of the river and swamps, with hills in the distance.
Equally bumpy ride back to the Guest House, straight ionto a cooling shower, and time for a beer!
Fantastic fish Amok for tea (D); L ginger chicken, kids cheese toasties & chicken noodle soup.
Early night for all, as moving on tomorrow.
