Final Koh Chang breakfast: chocolate pancakes for the kids, banana for D, muesli for L. then said goodbye to Ped & Star Beach Staff. Packed, cleaned room and left. Very full bus back to pier - kids had to share front passenger seat, D & L were standing, holding onto the back of the van!
Very hot morning. D feeling a bit faint whilst waiting to board ferry - felt better once sat on ferry, with sea breeze blowing. Back onto bus for journey to Trat bus station, where there was a 30 min wait before bus left for 90min journey to the border - kids slept most of the way.
Thai exit very simple. Entering Cambodia required temperature checks with a medic, fingerprints and photos to be taken for visas, a certain amount of hanging around in between each step of the process, and some negotiation with our "helpers" as to the cost of the visa. And "tips" of course!
About half way through this process, J turned green & was sick - which did not impress the taxi driver that had attached himself to us in hope of custom! Eventually loaded bags and kids into a very rickety looking car for the journey (via toll bridge) to Krong Koh Kong. Stopped off at market to exchange 4000 Bhat into a wad of Reils about an inch and a half thick! Then to hostel (Paddy's Guest House) and a $5 room with 2 beds, shared bathroom. Paddy very chatty - excellent English - so downstairs for a beer & chat, then to Paddy's (yes - him again!) Bamboo Pub, 100 m up the road) for food. Cambodian curry for D & L, huge portions of fried rice for kids. M ate well, but J couldn't manage much - still not feeling well.
Back to guest house for more beer, and late night chatting!
