Made it to Cusco Peru yesterday morning. Met up with Stacey, we plan to head south to Puno tomorrow.
Had very interesting jungle tour outside of Manaus Brazil last week. Spent a week in a lodge with daily and nightly trips into the jungle and on the rivers. Heard a lot of animals while hiking, but didnt see much. Spent one night in the jungle sleeping in a hammock, pretty cool. Went on munerous canoe trips, caught a lot of fish. Camen, aligator hunting and fishinng at night in the canoe. A bit tedious, at one point with a guide out of the boat chasing a small camen in waist deep water the other guide spotted what we estimate to be a 7 foot Camen about 10 feet from the canoe - quick exit.
Had the opportunity to spend a day waith a native family living in the jungle, 4 generations living in 4 huts. They move to follow the fish as the water levels change. They grow some food, gather from the jungle, hunt and fish. They were a little bummed because the week before my visit an anaconda killed thier only cow. They got revenge the next night and killed the anaconda with machettes from a canoe - would hve liked to have seen that one; from a distance. When I asked how big the snake was the patriarch made two marks in the dirt about 20n feet apart. They killed the snake, not out of revenge, but because they have three small girls and were concerned the snake had located a food source and would return.
